How to use retired power battery in 5G base station?
In recent years, with the rapid development of China's new energy vehicle industry, the problem of vehicle power battery recycling also arises. When the capacity of lithium iron phosphate battery commonly used in new energy vehicles declines to less than 80%, the battery will be retired. According to the statistics of China Automotive Technology Research Center, 200000 tons of power batteries will be retired in 2020, and the retired battery capacity will reach 25 million kwh, equivalent to the total power supply capacity of 25 large substations. If these batteries are discarded directly, it will not only waste resources, but also pollute the environment with heavy metals such as nickel, cobalt, manganese and lithium.
At the same time, with the continuous development of 5g mobile communication technology, 5g base stations are gradually increasing. 5g base stations need more power than 4G base stations. In the 4G era, the backup battery used in the communication base station can not meet the high power consumption demand of 5g base station.
The power demand of the retired lithium iron phosphate battery and 5g base station is "in harmony". In September, Hangzhou Yuhang District power supply company promoted the echelon utilization of power batteries for new energy vehicles, actively contacted China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, and discussed the batch utilization of retired batteries in 5g base stations. After repeated discussions, the power supply company and the three major operators chose baimakeng communication base station as the first pilot site of battery echelon utilization of Yuhang power supply company.
